Our New Chair of Trustees, Alex Bailey on Radio 4
Friday, January 6, 2012 at 10:09AM Through our contact with the Men's Network, we were invited to feature in a Radio 4 Programme airing this Sat. Here's what Alex had to say about the experience.
In late December I was approached by Chris Bowlby a producer at Radio 4 to contribute to the “ beyond Westminster “ programme going out on Saturday 7th January at 11.00am. Chris was making a programme on the “ men’s vote “ …does it exist and if so what does it focus on ? The Mensnetwork had suggested that given my public policy experience I might have something to contribute.
In a very “low tech” interview at Brighton Youth Centre just before Christmas we explored how some groups were actively seizing men’s issues, raising them up the policy agenda of public services and government and harnessing the power of men in community to design and provide solutions. They were also interested in our views on whether policy makers had ignored men’s issues and, if so, what might be done. They were also interested in some of the specifics of abandofbrothers (so much so that they even suggested a separate programme at some stage on the importance of good transitions in men’s lives). You can never tell how it will be edited…but hopefully a few more people will get to hear of our work.

Another abandofbrothers man, Alistair Mayor, also features, talking about his work with Superdads.
