Intention
In creating and supporting contemporary rites of passage for adolescents we intend:
- to foster safe community by engaging and training adult men to act as elders and mentors for local young men - thereby bridging the perilous divide that exists between generations of males
- to promote the context of Rites of Passage in community building and to open up an ongoing dialogue among ethnic and cultural voices as to the nature of an enlightened society and the global village of modern humanity.
- that every adolescent will have the opportunity to be recognised, acknowledged and welcomed into adulthood through a community sponsored Rites of Passage experience.
- to support a spiritual emancipation based upon the miracles of nature rather than adherence to any particular religion.
- to establish Axis Mundi - a Rites of Passage focal point, where young people come specifically to find their identity, purpose and meaning.
- to work to redirect the money spent on punishing lost and rebellious youth toward retraining them to live purposeful, ecologically responsible and humanly sensitive lives.
